Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa
land owner rights
I want to buy a small patch of vacant land in a rural setting and live on it. The dwelling would be a temporary structure (a yurt), but it would be my main home to live in. What are my rights to do this? Mainly because I cannot afford conventional housing, I want to keep costs low. What about using a woodstove for heating and an outhouse for sanitation? Anything to prevent this?

Re: land owner rights
Your plan would probably violate zoning laws and building codes. Check with the municipality or county in which the property is located. Also, if it was me, I would put my yurt somewhere warmer than Iowa. Just a suggestion.
