Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa

Leaving an apt without one months notice when there is no lease

We are currently renting an apt without a renewed lease. (We signed a six month lease, then another, then for some reason the Landlord didn't ask us to sign another.) We now have found a house and it requires that we move within two weeks. So our question is: Are we free of giving one months notice, and can we expect to move within two weeks without any problems from our current Landlord, given that we have not signed a new lease? And without having to pay for a new months rent as we won't even be living in the apt come the new month? Thank You

Re: Leaving an apt without one months notice when there is no lease

You must read the lease for the "term" if at the end of the six months it becomes a month to month lease you only have to give thirty days in advance of the next rental period, but if a six month "term" it is different, best to secure a real estate attorney who you will need when you buy the Home any way.
