Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa
I had to move from my apartment as a result of water coming in from the outside. It is my understanding that a previous tenant also had to do the same. The landlord acknowledges this, but also states that they attempted to make repairs to the apartment so it was liveable. The property management company and I made a written and signed agreement as to the terms of how I would be compensated for the relocation due to the water and the management company is not following through to what they agreed to in writing. I would like to subpoena the records of my previous apartment to find out who lived there and why they moved out and also what repairs if any were made to the property. Would you please advise me on how to go about doing this?

At this point, I am not sure how having this additional information will help you. If they have not fulfilled their obligations under a written agreement, point this out to them, in writing. If they do not live up to their end of the agreement, you may have to sue them.
