Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa

Real Estate Purchase agreement

I signed a purchase agreement on June 21, 2007. It was found that the property had a lien on it. We are still waiting for the lien to be cleared. Is there anyway for me to back out of the purchase agreement? Thanks.

Re: Real Estate Purchase agreement

Most purchase agreements will have a date by which the transaction must close. You need to talk to a real estate attorney about this--and the sooner the better. There are many areas in Iowa where the real estate agents tell people they do not need attorneys, or that only the seller needs an attorney to prepare the deed. Ignore them and get representation.
