Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa
Sale of part of LOT to neighbor
I am selling a strip of land at the back of my residential lot to my back door neighbor. He and I have had a surveryor come and find the existing property line and mark/record where we agree the new line will be (after the sale). I estimate that I will be selling approx. 1200-1500 sq ft to him. What kind of paper work needs to be done at the court house? Is there a simple form that I can obtain somewhere (foir free) for recording the sale and the transfer of ownership OR will the court house have all the forms that are needed? Thanks.

Re: Sale of part of LOT to neighbor
Depends on your city/town/county. Some will require city approval, some not. You would be well advised to contact a real estate attorney in your area to ensure everything is done correctly. It will be much easier to do it properly from the beginning than to try to correct things later.
