Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa

sold house still asking for money

I was told that if your home is sold in foreclosure that they have to get not only what is owed to the lender but also any equity loans. is that not true? Likewise they broke into my home wihtout notice, changed the locks and then ntofied me that I had 3o days to get my stuff out of the house. I got out and nearly a year and a half after they took it, sold it an got paid for it, now state that I owe for it and that I owe property taxes and demanding payments if I want to continue to live there???? is this illegal billing?

Re: sold house still asking for money

I am not sure I understand everything in your question. If it was the first mortgage company that foreclosed, they would have extinguished the lien held by the second mortgage company. Unfortunately, that does not mean you do not still owe them the money. I certainly do not understand their demand for payments if you want to continue occupying the property, since you seem to indicate you were no longer live there.
