Legal Question in Traffic Law in Iowa
Licenses in a different state
My friend got an OWI in IA. Then he moved to Texas. Can he get his license in Texas? Or does he have to fix all of his court stuff in IA before he can get a TX license?? Then if he gets his TX license, will the OWI show up on his TX driving record since both states are in agreement?
Thanks,
Vicki

Re: Licenses in a different state
There is an interstate compact whereby states share information about OWI convictions and Texas and Iowa are members. So your friend should not expect that he won't get caught. He'll have to contact the Texas authorities to see what they're going to require of him. In any event all fines and conditions of probation must be paid.
