Legal Question in Traffic Law in Iowa
My son has had his Iowa driver's license revoked (barred for too many traffic violations) for the several years. He recently got picked up for driving while barred and was told to get a work permit or a driver's license from another state before his court date in October. How do we go about this? Are there other states that will give you a license? Can he get a work permit in Iowa even though he is barred?

I seriously doubt that he could obtain a driver's license in another state while being a resident of Iowa and having his license revoked. Whoever advised him that he could or should do this is wrong. If he is able to get a work permit it will be through the Iowa Department of Transportation-although if you have been reading the newspapers lately the chances of being cut any slack just went down.
