Legal Question in Traffic Law in Iowa
Traffic fine
I'm from Iowa. My wife was issued a traffic ticket today for a violation that ''happened'' last Thursday (7 days ago). The ticket is for going around a school bus. The diver of the bus claims that she went around when it had flashers on and stop sign out. My wife claims that the bus had no flashers going and certainly no stop sign out. Now to the questions: is there a time limit as to when you can get a ticket issued to you, and #2 how can a citizen's word (bus driver) be taken as gospel with no possible way to fight it?? The police officer said that even though there was a difference of opinion as to the events - he had no choice but to issue the ticket. Is it that automatic??

Re: Traffic fine
First question: Yes, but 7 days is well within what's allowed.
Second question: It's no different than any other witness report.
What to do: Plead not guilty and go to court.
