Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Iowa

Car Title Problem

My sister wishes for me to have her car after her death.We cant find the title and I filed for a duplicate today.It has a 6 day waiting period.The problem is she is very gravely ill and near death.She had a will but the lawyer retired and moved away leaving her with only a copy and not the original.I have a joint checking account,stocks have been signed over to my brother and myself but the car is the question.I dont have anything showing im the excutor of the estate.What course of action should I take?

I am unclear where your sister lives. Is it Kansas or Iowa? In which state is the car titled?

Do you believe that your sister still has capacity to make her wishes known, regarding her property?

If I understand you correctly, she has a copy of a will that she does not want to repudiate, destroy, or otherwise make void. If she still has capacity and conpetency, she could make a codicil to that will, as regards the vehicle and naming of the Persoanl Representative (Executor).
