Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Iowa

A relative of my mother's is currently her power of attorney. Both my mother and I disagree with several things she has done with such power and she fails to consult with us on many decisions she makes. She sells things that belong to my mother without her consent and is now trying to sell my grandfathers house that he had left my mother in his will. My mother has her own house and has let me live in my grandfathers house as he would have wanted. Can she legally sell the house without permission or consent? And how can we strip her of her role as power of attorney?

What is she doing with the money she is getting from all of these sales? Is your mother mentally competent to manage her own affairs? If your mother is mentally competent, she needs to revoke the power of attorney and appoint another attorney in fact, if she desires. You really should discuss this situation with an attorney in your area before it escalates, and to ensure you mother has not been defrauded. A review of the documents and an accounting from the relative would seem to be in order.
