Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Iowa
I am a single parent of two minor children. I know that my children would go to my ex-husband to raise if I died, but I would like to make sure upon my death that my family still gets to see them frequently & that my son's mental health issues are still taken care of (their father doesn't believe in counseling), basically I want to appoint someone that can "act" as their other parent if I'm gone and require him to consult on things such as medical, school, etc. Can I appoint a Guardian that would do these things, but Custody obviously would go to their father? How can I ensure my children are still raised somewhat close to how I would have?

You can't do that. Once you're gone so are your parental rights.
