Legal Question in Workers Comp in Iowa

With holding pay check

I worked at a Pizza ranch for 3weeks, after work was terminated I went to get my 1st check, because they pay every 2weeks. They refused to give me my pay check due to insufficient paper work. According to Iowa law though, they are required to pay me at next payment period after work is terminated. Can I sue them for this?

Re: With holding pay check

Your solution is pretty simple. You look the owner or manager in the eye and say: "I've spoken to an attorney and he says that under Iowa Code Chapter 91A if you don't pay me he'll sue you and this company. Under Chapter 91A you will owe the pay check, interest, court costs, liquidated damages and attorney fees. So, how do you want to do this the cheap and easy way by handing me my check now? Or the expensive hard way with you being invited to the party by legal Complaint, paying your lawyer, mine and all the rest?" If he doesn't hand you your pay check come see me and we'll sue him.
