Legal Question in Family Law in Israel

My husband and I have just moved to Israel from the United States. My husband was born in Israel. We have a one and a half year old son who was born in the United States, but he also has an Israeli passport that my husband got for him from an Israeli Embassy in Atlanta, GA. Now we are considering divorce and I want to return to the United States. My husband is refusing to let me take my son and refuses to settle the divorce in the United States. We have only been in Israel since February and I have no money and I can't speak the native language which is hebrew. I do not work because I am at home with my children (our son and I also have a daughter) and my husband does not give me access to any money. Can he stop me from taking my son with me to the United States? What are my options?

According to Israeli law it is common that a child up-to the age of 6 years would be in his mother's custody unless it is proven that the mother cannot deal with the child. There are some organizations like NA'AMAT that would help you to file the appropriate requests to the local court, including child support and your maintenance (you are entitled to be supported by your husband until the a divorce is given.
