Legal Question in Employment Law in Italy

Lawyers in Italian branches of American Law Firms

I have heard that lawyers in Italy cannot be ''employees''. Is that true? If so, how do they get paid, and especially how do they get benefits. For example, if a U.S. firm 'contracts' with a lawyer in Italy and pays him/her a salary, how can they get health benefits?

Re: Lawyers in Italian branches of American Law Firms

You are not completely right, the lawyers in Italy can be ''employees'', due to special kind of agreement with other senior lawyers. They cannot be employed by a company, they shall be by a law firm.
