Legal Question in DUI Law in Japan

DUI and driving in Japan

I am a Navy wife and have a DUI from 2000...will I be able to get a driver's license in Japan? Does the military have to know about this matter? Thank you very much...

Re: DUI and driving in Japan

If your DUI was back in 2000, presumably, your full driving privileges have been restored by now

and you are now driving without any restrictions.

If you're going to be transferred to Japan, you should investigate whether you can drive in that country with an International Drivers' License which can be easily obtained here in the United States by completing a simple application and paying a nominal fee. It's unlikely that you will have to disclose any information regarding your previous DUI conviction in applying for this license.
