Legal Question in Workers Comp in Japan

How to go about collecting workers comensation.

I played baseball in Japan last year and was injusred requiring surgery. I will be rehabbing for the next 8 months. I was wondering if there was any way i would be able to file a workers compensation claim and how. The contract was signed in the state of california. I appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure how playing baseball in Japan is a work related accident unless you are/were a professional athlete. I'm in Illinois. The laws of the various states do differ. In Illinois, we can file a claim in the state where the contract of employment is entered into. You indicate that your contract was signed in California. So, if you are a professional baseball player you have to examine two things. First is whether professional athletes in California are compensated under the Work Comp laws of that state. If so, then you have to examine whether California has jurisdiction over your case even though you were hurt elsewhere. To get the answers to these questions you should contact a lawyer in Ca that is familiar with that state's Work Comp laws. Good Luck.
