Legal Question in Employment Law in Kansas
I quit my job my hours where cut short. We recently had gotten a new manager, and she wanted to run the store how she wanted, and the people she wanted to work their. She cut my hours short, and when I asked why they've been cut or could I get more she promised she would but, didn't because it was her way of making me quit without her firing me. So now I'm trying to get my unemployment, and she keeps fighting me for it, and giving the unemployment insurance people false information. What do I do?

If you quit, rather than being fired, the Division of Unemployment will deny your claim unless you can show to it that you could not afford to continue to work for the limited number of hours she employed you. Don't know the nature of your work, but you can argue that cost of getting to work, child care, etc. made is economically impossible for you to work such limited hours. You have to argue that you were forced to quit.
If benefits denied by Division of Unemployment, you have only 16 days to appeal that written determination to an Administrative Law Judge. Appeal it. Consult with an experienced employment law attorney.
