Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Kansas
Bankruptcy Law
My father who is 76 years old, recently widowed and left with about $25,000 in credit card debt, there is a civil judgement against him pending for about $10,000 that is being disputed. Owes about $3,000 on the first mortgage, about $28,000 on a second mortage. Can we just file against the credit cards and civil judgment? And about how much should it cost to file?
Which bankruptcy should we file? And can he lose the house?
Should we use a attorney that represents brother and father, who has power of attorney over my father. Is this a conflict of interest. The attorney has represented my brother in two divorces?
Please advise as soon possible and to the best of you knowledge.
Thank You,
Tonia
