Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Kansas

We have a lien on our home and just found out when we were going to close on a refinance. We filed bankruptcy and the debt was discharged. Do we have to pay back the money even if it was discharged in order to get the lien removed? Also, we have never heard about this until now and the amount has gained interest over the last 2 years which has increased the amount by 4K. What is the best way to deal with this? Our attorney has only said to file a Homestead Affidavit to protect the property. But, this will have to paid at some point, is that correct?

Talk to the attorney that handled the bankruptcy. It was their job to have liens removed. If this isn't a judgment, or other type of lien that can be removed, you'll have to contest the debt or pay it.

Good luck
