Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Kansas
Returned Checks
I was between jobs and for some reason I got overdrawn but did not get notices until about a month ago and I spoke with an attorney about claiming bankruptcy several months ago and now am getting these letters about checks. I did not respond to them because my attorney told me not to respond to anyone.I am afraid now to contact any of them because I do not have the money to pay the checks off all at once. I am afraid I will get into trouble. Can the checks go under the bankruptcy? What do I do with this?

Re: Returned Checks
If one of the letters to which you did not respond was from the county attorney in your area advising you that they would proceed w/criminal charges against you if you do not cover the bad checks, you should contact that office asap. You cannot discharge debts acrued as a result of a criminal case in a bankruptcy.
