can business assets be taken if sued for a personal matter

Business assets can mean a lit of different things. If the "Business assets belong to a corporation they generally cannot be used to Satisfy the personal debt of a shareholder holders. If the corporate assets were intermixed or commingled with personal assets, then the business assets may be used to for personal debts, But, that is because the Court is declaring them not to be exclusively corporate assets. If the business is a sole practiitioner, dba used without a separate business identity, then they may be applied to personal debt. However, Bankruptcy Regulations and some state laws exclude some business type assets from execution by personal creditors. Those include, among other things, tools of a trade.
