Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Kansas
Can businesses or clubs require citizens / customers to make public to them, their driver license number? Can you be denied service or membership for not providing this personal information.
1 Answer from Attorneys
Private clubs can require private disclosure of personal information. Most such groups would be foolish to publicize their guests or member's private personal information, SS it could make them liable for damages. If what you're really asking is "If I refuse to divulge private information, can they dentmme membership?" The Answer to that question is very fact dependent. In many cases, private groups and clubs can make membership choices without explanation, as long as they aren't denying a public accommodation for improper reasons (I.E. race, religion, color, etc.)
Good luck
