Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Kansas
cell phone taken at school
my son got his phone taken away at school today for it being on in class. That is against the rules. Once the teacher had it, he opened it up and read all of his text messages and looked at all his pictures. They want to suspend him for inappropriate language in his text messages. Isn't it against his privacy to read his stuff without his permission? It is a personal device. Also, what about his freedom of speech.

Absolutely it violates his right of privacy. Taking the phone is one thing, reading private inforamtion is another.
Parents get a lawyer and take it up with school administration.
