Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Kansas
Police were called to my location for a welfare check due to suicidal messages I sent for attention. Police asked me if I had any weapons so I told them about the firearm I always carry with me. I voluntarily went with them to the hospital and while being there they seized the firearm. I voluntarily admitted myself to an in-patient physciatric unit and was there for two days before released. Everything checked out fine. I went to the police station to see about having my firearm returned and they said they do not in those situations. Is there anything I can do here?

You may need to consult directly with an attorney in your area. The procedure, fit when the police refuse to return property, is too complicated to fully explain through this forum.
Good luck
