Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Kansas
slander
What can I do to get an alcoholic aunt off my back. She has been affecting mine and my 20 year old sons lives negatively and constantly since she came to this town in November of 06. She came to take over my Grandmothers life and kick me and my son out of her llife. I was my grandmothers caretaker. Two of the things my aunt has done (out of many things) are that she falsely reported me to the child protective services and said that I leave my 9 year old daughter with my 21 year old autistic daughter. She didnt know that my autistic daughter has been in Houston, Texas with my mother since January of 2007. She also told CPS that my big dog stays in the house and that I have feces all over my house, and that I do not have food or feed my little daughter. The social worker came in my house and found all of these to be unconfirmed. Now she has been telling other relatives and people in town that my son just got out of jail for molesting a 3 year old little girl. They are all vicious lies! My son and I are both in college full time. besides for being a full time student, my son works full time at WalMart. He is a good kid and does not deserve these problems. What can we do to get her off our backs?

Re: slander
This is not a legal problem, it's a family problem.
Try mediation, but it sounds like this is one of the costs of having someone unstable in the family.
You might try an intervention, but at the very least, get into therapy yourself so that whatever she does, you approach it from a position of being grounded and sane yourself.
One of the problems of addiction is that the person suffering is highly likely to try to drag everyone else down with her.
