Legal Question in Technology Law in Kansas
Software re-sale and useage.
Can an older version of a software product (normally sold by a vendor or merchant) be purchased second hand (from another individual who maybe upgraded to a newer version) and then use it for a business?
example:
Person A: owns both full versions of MS Windows 2000 and MS Windows XP.
Person B: owns full version of Windows 98.
Can person B purchase the MS Windows 2000 from Person A and use it for a business?

Re: Software re-sale and useage.
Generally yes, as long as the seller uninstalls the software before the buyer installs it.
Most software is purchased or licensed pursuant to a user agreement which may limit the original buyer's right to re-sell the software. If in doubt, you and the seller should check this agreement to see what it permits.
