Web-based Online Game - Ideas considered gambling?
I'm in the early planning stages of creating an online web-based game. I'm wondering if any of the following would be considered gambling (which I'd like to avoid). Money and other figures below are for illustration purposes only.
1. Player pays $1.00 to mine a virtual asteroid. 95% of the time the asteroid yields ore that can be sold to a virtual commodity market for $1.05. The other 5% of the time the asteroid is bare and the $1.00 is lost.
2. Player pays $1.00 to mine a virutal asteroid. 95% of the time, the asteroid yields ore that can be sold for real money at auction to other players for whatever they can get out of it. The other 5% of the time, the asteroid is bare and the $1.00 is lost.
3. Player pays $1.00 to mine a virtual asteroid. All asteroids yield ore and is sold at auction or a virtual commodity market for virtual money rather than real money.
