Kansas Districts treat Answer dockets differently. Almost all require that the defendant appear, if they have filed a written answer. Some require the defendant to appear even if they have. Some do not require the Plaintiff or their attorney to appear at the initial answer docket, as the purpose is to hear if the defendant admits or denies the claims in the petition, and courtroom space may be limited. If you filed a written answer, then you may request that the case be dismissed if the plaintiff or their attorney do not appear at the next hearing. Your request wouldl be granted in some districts.
Good luck
