Checking for Bankruptcy status

How can we as a small business owner in Kansas check to make sure someone hasn't filed for bankruptcy or is in bankruptcy before we extend them credit or work on their machinery?

You can enroll in the pacer system, or call the federal court (BK Division) in the District where they would have filed.
