Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Kansas
A collection agency bought my dept for a credit card that I supposedly did not pay since 1995 or 1996. They say the burdon of proof is mine. I must prove that I do not owe the bill. I think the burdon of proof should be on them, proving that I owe the bill. Am I correct? Also isn't there a statute of limation on how long they can wait before they try to collect the bill? I think 14-15 years is quite a long time to wait before a collection is started. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jill Martin

In Kansas, the credtirop has five years in which to sue over the debt. or a future suit can be dismissed for failure to timely file.
Good luck
