If I accept partial payment from a client am I agreeing that the balance is paid in full?

If you accept partial payment, you may be amending the agreement with the debtor, such that you cannot declare a future partial payment as a breach, which would give you the right to seek certain damages. There are variable that affect whether this occurs. Given the limited information you have provided, the best answer is Maybe.
