Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Kansas

A credit card company has been garnishing money from my account. I am unemployed and have no income. My wife works part time and shares the account with me. Is it legal for the credit card company to keep garnishing all of the money from the account even though it is not my money? What can I do? Thank you

In Kansas, when a husband and wife share a joint account, it is subject to garnishemnt by the creditor of either or both of them. You and your wife can change banks, or your wife can possibly open her own seperate account (without you on it) at the same bak. Seh shoudl tell teh bank personnel that is assiting her in opening it, that she wants to set it up so that your credtiors cannot get to it. They will have her sign a differnet type of signature card.

Good luck
