As akansas couple that comingled yrou asets (field jointly with the refudn coming in one lump sum) the creditor of one of you may get teh entire refunds up to teh amount of hte judgmetn debt. You can contest the garnishment int eh court that issued the order. It is a regular hearing, that does not occur unless you ask for it and contest the garnishment/execution. The judge will allow you to give your reasons why some or all of the refund is not subject to the garnishment. If you wait until the money is paid, it may be too late. You should consult direclty with an attorney in your area. Many offer a free or low cost intial consultation. Give them al lteh information you have, so they can look at the actual documents that were filed with the court, to see what your options are.

Good luck
