Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Kansas

Friend was arrested for "theft" of personal items of boyfriends from the apartment they shared. A public defender was requested and suggested a diversion. Since my friend was in a state of shock she agreed to the diversion although she didn't steal or pawn anything. She is unable to get any help from the pawn shops as they had to sign a legal document stating they would not speak to anyone about the case unless it was with the local police department or the attorneys involved. She has to go before the DA on Tuesday regarding the diversion. Is there any help for her??? She has no criminal record nor has never been in any trouble. She can't afford to hire an attorney as she is currently homeless and the boyfriend has placed a no contact order against her. HELP PLEASE.

Your fried has legal counsel. She should follow their advice, or hire other counsel. You indicated that she has no money for that, But, you say she is your "friend." Is she enough of afriend to pay her legal fees?
