Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Kansas
Non sufficient check
I had two Non sufficient checks to the same place. They just now sent a letter to inform me of this. The checks were written on 4-8 & 4-10 of 2005. The letters were postmarked 4-6 & 4-12 of 2006. I don't feel that I have to redeem that money, because a year of time has elapsed? What are the laws in Kansas on their recorse and the time line they should react in on a non sufficient check?
Thank you!

Re: Non sufficient check
Under the facts that you describe, the creditor or payee of the checks appears to still be within the statutory period to seek recompense by law suit. That means they are probably still able to demand the payment from you.
If you have not provided all of the facts, you should contact an attorney in your area to advise you. Do not rely solely on the advice that can be given in this limited forum.
