Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Kansas
We owe a credit card balance but can no longer pay the minimum amount due on our account. We would pay something every month as best we could, if they would work with us, Have written to them explaining our situation in detail and all they answered was for us to call their 800 number. We did and got a suggestion of us coming up with an amount that we could pay for sure each and every month. We live on strictly soc.sec. and pay only the basics as our ss incomes are small. We have no savings whatsoever,a reverse mortgage (with no equity) on our home and no means of support besides ss. What can we do? What can they do to us?

Based upon the facts you described, it sounds like there would be no assets for the lender to collect a judgment, should they sue you. Therefore, they may be more willing to accept low monthly payments. You probably shouldn't pay anything, if you have no chance of paying off the balance within a few years. Your credit rating will be ruined. But, constantly late will not be le much less damaging than not paying. However, you're only able to provide a very few facts here. You need to consult directly with a civil practice attorney, in your area, to get advice based upon all the pertinent facts, before you decide what to do.
