This question is actually on behalf of a friend of mine. She was in a long distance relationship with a man. She intended on moving to his state and starting a life together. She hit a financial downward spiral and he over time had sent her about 10,000. Never once told her to pay anything back. All the money was used to pay for things that were stoping them from being together. All the money was sent to her for her to pay for things so they could be together. He decided the other day he doesn't want her and met someone new. He now wants
her to pay Everything back. Could he take her to court and win?
He is in the military stationed in Kansas she lives in Alaska

There are very few banned law suits, One may sue for tenuaous things, it matters whether they can prevail. Under the facts you described, it is conceiabvable that the man coudl prevail in court. he would have to prove the nature of the transfers to her, and withstand her defense that they wre gifts. but he might win. If your "friend" is worried, she should consult directly with counsel, who can ask follow up questions to ascertain the rest of the facts.
