Is there a time limit on how long a debtor has to collect a debt and how hard do they have to attempt to contact the person they claim owes them?

Yes, there are time limits. Generally, it is five years. But, differnet facts and activity affect the length of this time, so do nto relay on that figure to yrou detriment. But, if it has been less thatn five yearws on a case wherein you signed anything, the creditor may yet be able to sue on the alleged debt.

As for how hard to contact the alleged debtor, there are requirements as to how and when a collector (someone trying to collect the alleged debt on behalf of the creditor) may and must contact the debtor. But, as for as creditors themselves, there are much less restrictions on how ans dwhen they cotnact the debtor.
