Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas
I admitted to and charged with felony theft. I am 18 years old and I was arrested and booked and bonded. I have not appeared in court or entered a plea of guilty or not. Do i need to hire representation or what do i need to do?

I suggest you hire a lawyer. You do not want a felony theft charge on your record if you can avoid it. It will be a problem in the future when you are seeking a good job. A lawyer can examine the evidence and determine whether the state has sufficient evidence to gain a conviction. Sometimes, a lawyer can succeed in getting charges reduced or dismissed. Whatever you do, do not plead guilty. You have a right to challenge evidence, examine witnesses, and file motions on your behalf. Feel free to contact me if you have additional questions or comments.
