Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas
I have been charged with criminal damage to property which is a class B misdemenor. I am on probation for about 7 more months. My probation officer told me I would be able to purchase a gun after I got off of probation, but everything a read stated that gun ownership and domestic violence don't mix (obviously). I was wondering if when I get off probation I'll be able to own a gun. I'm only 21 and would hate to lose that right for the rest of my life.

A class B misdemeanor conviction itself shoudl not prevetn you from owning firearms. However, as background checks and permit requirements change over time, the conviction might cause your apploication to be delayed for further investigation. That further invetigation may bring up something that along with the conviction, might hamper your ability to possess or carry.
