Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas
Fighting what charge can I get. I got into a fight and knocked someone out they had to go to the er. Know they want to press charges. Can I get convicted if they started the altercation that led to that
1 Answer from Attorneys
If someone attacked you, you should not be convicted for taking violent action to repel the attack. But, once you got the upperhand in the scuffle, you may have been expected to stop fighting. The standard is "reasonable to defend your self." These are very fact specific matters. It would be impossible to assess the reasonableness of your actions or predict your chances of being convicted. There are just too few facts here. You should consult directly with a criminal defense or personal injury attorney in your area. Many offer a free or low cost initial consultation. Find one, and see what your options are.
Good luck
