I had a Petty theft charge WOP in 2008 and now I get a call 6 years later saying I have a warrant Isn't there some kind of statute of limitations ,And shouldn't I have received something before a warrant was put out for me ?

Statutes of limitation cover the time between when a crime has alledgedly occurred, and when a defendant is charged. You may have been charged in time (or not.) There is also a Constitutional prohibition against langering prosecution, often referred to as the right to a speedy trial. The state may have waited too long. Consult directly with a criminal defense attorney very soon.
Good luck
