Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas

I was recently arrested and charged with domestic battery, even though there was no evidence of any violent actions, and my girlfriend and I both stated that it was a simple disagreement that bystanders had blown out of proportion. What rights do I have in this matter and do I have the right to sue this supposed witness for slander?

If the witness gave afalse statement to teh polcie and signed the report containing their flase statement, you may be able to make a viable claim against them if you are aquitted or charges are dropped. If you are convicted or plea to the case, you problaby have no case agisnt the witness. If the witness stated what they saw and then said waht they though also occurred, they may rely on the Police using independent judgment in deciding to charge you with an offense, as a defense to your civil claim. If it turns otu they liend, uyou shoudl pressur ethe prosecutor to charge the witness with making a false report.
