Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas
Theft by a ''friend'' entrusted with money
Iam seeking legal advice for a colleague that resides outside the country. While a student my colleague had saved some money ($3500) that they decided to leave in a bank account for the future (child born here)after they finished studies and left the country. They left it in the care of another ''friend'' who also received the bank statements. Over approx. a three year period the ''friend'' cleaned out the account while stating to my colleague that all was well when they requested info. They recieved a call from the bank one day to their suprise asking them to pay fees for an overdraft that they had been attempting to collect. Being outside the country it has been difficult for them to collect the money back from this ''friend'' who now claims it was a gift. Do they have a legal recourse?

Re: Theft by a ''friend'' entrusted with money
Your friend may have a cause of action against their other "friend" However, you or they will need to provide much more information. For a start, please let me know, in what part of Kansas is the friend and the bank account.
Good Luck,
Tony Smith
