Legal Question in DUI Law in Kansas

180 Day WRIT

I have a friend who is serving time in Kansas for a DWI and involved in a one-car accident. He lives in Missouri, but apparently the accident happened in Kansas. It was his mother's vehicle. There were no other persons involved in the accident. However, he must have a record of DUI's or DWI's in Missouri and has asked me to see if I can get some further info on this 180 day writ and possibly how to proceed. He is currently serving time in Johnson County, Kansas. And has been moved from Leavenworth to Olathe to Cotton wood Falls and back to the Olathe Adult Detention Center. If I understand correctly, this writ applies to serving time for another incident elsewhere. Which would be Missouri. I have looked for a form of some sort for him to submit, but with no avail. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: 180 Day WRIT

If you go to the Missouri Supreme Court's web site or any Missouri court web site, you can get access to Casenet. In it you can look up his cases by his name. You may need to hire an attorney to assist your friend.

Good Luck
