I recently got an MIP. Is there anyway I can reduce the amount of community service hours I have to do? I have to try out for volleyball next week and my court date is Friday.

You can't normally be forced to do any Community Service. Many defendants agree to do it as part of a plea agreement or instead of the regular punishment for crime. If you do not agree with the amount of Community Service that the Prosecutor is making part of a plea offer, consider not taking the offer. They might reduce the amount they demand, or you might have to take the case to trial. If you were convicted, (by guilty plea or after trial), you can ask the Judge to; reduce the amount of Community Service, give you longer to complete the hours, order jail or detention time instead. Sometimes one can do several weekends in jail or juvenile detention instead of consecutive days, so they can attend their regular school.
Good luck
