Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

I have a 6 year old son, his father wants to take him to Europe for vacation on a cruise. I am very uncomfortable with my son leaving the country at such a young age. Do I have a say in wether or not he can go? I do have full custody.

If you actually have sole legal custody, you have the authority to say whether the child goes to Europe. However, most parents have joint legal custody, which means the parents have an equal voice in the decision-making process. In that situation, a judge may have to make the decision. That decision will be based on the overall best interest of the child, utilizing many factors, including, but not limited to: Is the trip relatively safe? Who is going? What is the purpose? Will the child miss school? We hope this information will help you as parents make good decisions for your child.
