There is no specific age. Judges differ in their opinion as to how much input a child should have, but judges uniformly take the position that children do not make the decisions. As children get older, their ability to reason and express themselves normally gets better, so an older child usually has more input than a younger child. Each case is different, and the underlying reasons why a child may express a desire to go or not go must be examined. Consult an experienced family law attorney.
