Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas
Annulment
my friend married his wife while she was in jail, when she got out he is now in prison for probation violation. In which they have not consumated their marriage. He will be coming home on October 12, 2001 and he has asked for my help in filing for an annulment. His marriage took place in Johnson county kansas,we have a family friend Maurice ryan who is a judge in wyandotte county kansas. he said for me to got to washlaw.edu to find the forms for annulment papers. now with me not having any legal experience. I'm not sure what form I should be looking for or even what its under. all I have found is forms for a divorce but if I am correct, they can have an annument since they haven't consumated their marriage. I am asking for help in trying to find the proper papers to start annument pocedures but am at a dead end. If you have a copy that can be sent via e-mail that would be wonderful. If not any information will be of great help. Thank you.

Re: Annulment
If you truly wish to maintain your friendship with this guy, DO NOT attempt to file these documents yourself. As you said, neither of you have legal training--an annulment is no less demanding than a filing for divorce. For the sake of your friend, advise him to retain legal counsel. . .your approach could really end up in a mess for him.
